- Visit of the famous archaeological site of Pompeii.
- In 79 AD the volcano Vesuvius erupted, and the ancient city of Pompeii was buried by a 12 meters layers of ash and pumice stones, which preserved the city as if it was frozen in its past. While the plaster casts of its residents, who died for suffocation, show the last dramatic moments of their lives.
- Ongoing excavation begun in the 18th century under the Bourbon and so far 75 per cent of the city has been unearthed and has revealed so many details about everyday life of a city of two thousand years ago.
- Continuation to Herculaneum
- Lunch in Herculaneum, in a very nice restaurant.
- In the afternoon visit of the archaeological site.
- Herculaneum has been preserved like no other site in the world.
- The city was buried beneath 16 meters of ash and mud during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, and this layer of detritus saved two-story domus homes with the internal architecture and décor intact, including features in wood and marble, decorations, jewellery, and even organic remains like food, providing a unique view into the daily lives of the ancient population of Herculaneum.

- The National Archaeological Museum of Naples is a prominent Italian Archaeological museum with a significant collection that includes works from Greek and Roman civilizations. Most part of the roman Its Roman artifacts come from nearby Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum.
- The collection includes Greek and Roman Marble Sculpture, the magnificent Farnese Collection from Caracalla’s baths in Rome, bronzes from Villa dei Papiri, mosaics and frescoes from Pompei and Herculaneum, , Egyptian collection and the Secret Cabinet.

- In the afternoon « petite promenade » in the historical centre of Napoli.
- Visit of the famous Sansevero Chapel with its masterpiece the incredible Veiled Christ, a very realistic statue created by the Neapolitan artist Giuseppe Sammartino in 1753, placed in the centre of the chapel and representing Jesus covered with a veil after deposition from the cross. But besides the veiled Christ there are other beautiful sculptures such as the Statue of the Virtues, the statue of Modesty and the incredible Disillusionment.
- The crypt also contains the anatomical machines, studies of anatomy of the prince Raimondo Di Sangro, two bodies, a man and a woman, with a perfect reconstruction of the cardiovascular system around the skeleton.
- The visit continues in Via San Gregorio Armeno, the famous street where local artisans make the Christmas Nativity scenes, a very important Neapolitan tradition. All the area around via San Gregorio Armeno has been a commercial hub for a long time; in Greek and Roman times, this area was the main square of the ancient city of Neapolis, the agora and then the roman Forum.

- The extraordinary monumental complex of Caserta was planned on the second half of the 18th century by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli, according to the wishes of Charles of Bourbon to rival Versailles and Madrid.
- His choice was based on the excellent local hunting and the vulnerability of his palazzo in Naples, in the event of a popular uprising or an attack from the sea.
- The enormous Bourbon Palace houses the large Palatine Chapel, inspired directly by the one in the Palace of Versailles. The Court Theatre, with its horseshoe-shaped layout, was inaugurated by Ferdinand I and able to accommodate 450 spectators.
- The royal apartment starts with the antechambers: the “ Sala degli Alabardieri” enriched by the painting of Domencio Mondo and the “Sala del Baciamano” dedicated to Alessandro the Great, that divides the Old Apartment from the New Apartment. The old one was inhabited by Ferdinand IV and Maria Carolina and stands out for the brocade and damask silks produced in the Factory of San Leucio.
- They also include the Palatine Library and the Elliptical Room, with the splendid Neapolitan Crib. La Quadreria contains paintings by Giuseppe De Nigris, Salvatore Fergola and painters from the School of Salvator Rosa
- The Complex includes also the park, the gardens and wooded area, as well as the AcqueductCarolino and the industrial complex of San Leucio, built for the production of silk.
- Lunch in a very typical restaurant in San Leucio.
- The main part of the San Leucio estate is the ancient hunting Lodge of the Belvedere, converted by King Ferdinando IV of Bourbon into a silk mill to create an idealistic community of workers, who were guaranteed homes, schools, medical care and all services. The huge building complex, set around the inner courtyards, became the symbol of a model society based on the value of work and equality.

- The Capodimonte Museum is one of the city’s most prestigious museums. Situated in the Palace of Capodimonte, a palace built for Charles of Bourbon by the famous architect Canevari; the museum houses fascinating art collections, ranging from ancient to contemporary art. The museum also includes the historical royal apartment and a splendid collection of china and ceramics. Featuring more than a hundred rooms, Capodimonte Museum is one of Europe’s largest museums.

- 3h00 p.m. visit of the San Martino Charterhouse and Museum.

- Charles of Anjou started building the monastery in 1325, assigning works to architects Francesco Vito, Mazzeo di Malotto and Tino da Camaino. The construction was finished under Queen Giovanna in 1368. Around 1580 the monastery was enlarged and almost completely rebuilt in 1623 by the architects Dosio and Fanzago, turning into one of the best examples for Neapolitan Baroque.
- The Charterhouse includes the church with the sacristy, the chapel of the treasures and the Conversi Choir, the monk’s cemetery, the cloister of procurators, the large cloister and the Prior’s apartment.
- The vault of the church still shows the original 14th century frame, as well as impressive frescoes by Giovanni Lanfranco and paintings by Caracciolo, Reni, Ribera, Finoglia and Stanzione.
- In 1866, Giuseppe Fiorelli founded the National Museum of San Martino and it became a museum of the city with a very interesting historical Section, which includes paintings, sculptures, furnitures, medals, miniatures, coins and memories about the history of the southern kingdom.

Hydrofoil to Capri
If Capri was already the vacation spot of the Emperor Tiberius, it is still frequented today by actors, politicians and intellectuals of all nationalities; all seduced by the marvellous island emerging from the turquoise waters, by the “Faraglioni”, the cliff which have become its symbol and the lemon tree gardens…
In Capri you have to walk, take the many paths that crisscross the island, much more suited to hikers than jet-set stars.
Walkers will be happy to be surprised by the breath-taking panoramas and will be able to delight in the small restaurants, under the arbores of flowing bougainvillea.
Visit of the famous Villa San Michele.
The beautiful House owned by Axel Munthe, a Swedish Doctor that loved Italy so much to decide to set up home in Capri.
His house was a sort of museum, He was fascinated by art and collect many items that are now on display in the house.
He as also rather good at designing gardens and the ones at Villa San Michele are still laid out according to his specifications.
There are a particular highlight: they are not big, but they have an incredible variety of Mediterranean flowers and plants growing within them.
